| View current production measurements by returning to the main menu and in the cutoff saw submenu. Click on Saw Production Data (figure 6) to bring up the saw length data. Copy the current data to the computer clipboard (figure 7) for analysis in another program or return to the saw controls to finish cutting. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The Heat Treatment Production Run window (figure 8) gives the option to use the stock from the cutoff saw in heat treatment. Choose "cutoff saw stock" to use the pieces already cut in the saw simulation. Otherwise use "regular stock" and the simulation will provide knife blanks targeted to the length specified in the Product Data window of the simulation.
Using cutoff saw stock is more realistic because the saw operator must allow for length increase during hardening. The amount of length increase is dependent on the temperatures used and the makeup of the steel. Different steel shipments and even different blanks from the same bar have varying growth characteristics. |
